Cut -Out Girls is loosely based on an award winning stage play by Nicola Hanekom that deals with the uneasy subject of date rape. 'After working with this special group of young actors, I decided to develop the script into a feature film'. A true labour of love, Cut-Out Girls' filming was funded in part by an Indiegogo campaign. Equipment and gear was sponsored and a skeleton crew put together to bring this story to life. Producer Grant Swanby says, 'It was a truly tough process. Everybody was very generous and helped where they could'. Talented young cinematographer, Brett Rayner was brought in and adds a fresh vision to the project. The film was shot, in and around Cape Town, over 21 days in July 2017. Post- production started in September after further funds were raised. A portion of the proceeds of the film will go to the the  non- profit organisation Rape Crisis. The film is produced by Act Cape Town Productions, in association with Haas & Kaas.
